I've been posting on my intentions for almost a month and I have yet to build anything. I really ought to have some slivers right now, yet the most handy thing I've done this week is to reattach a towel rack that had deposed itself of our bathroom wall.
My wife was so impressed by my manhood.
My Mission: To construct one pencil with tools constructed by myself out of raw materials. The pencil must be functional and comparable to the modern day wonder that is "The Pencil". This idea is based on an Essay by Leonard Read

I am a self-proclaimed "Free-market", "Free-Trade", and "Capitalism-loving", "globalist". I also believe that it was probably impossible for one man to make a pencil in 1958. Will it be impossible in 2008?

Hi,
I just found this blog ironically because I had decided to do exactly the same thing. I am an art student at the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver, Canada, and I thought this would be a great sculpture project for a show happening here. So I set out to find out how to do it, and came across this blog. I had never heard of Leonard Read or his proposal, but it is all very fascinating. This blog has been very helpful as well and it seems you are having all the problems I came up with. Anyway, you haven't posted in a while and I was wondering how much success you've had or if you have given up. Please contact me, as I would be very interested to hear how far you have come.
